An electric explosion-proof ball valve is used for automated pipeline control in environments where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dust may create a potentially explosive atmosphere. The explosion-proof electric actuator drives the ball valve to control the process medium. Selection should not be based only on valve size. Medium properties, pressure, temperature, valve materials, operating torque, actuator explosion-protection requirements, and the hazardous-area conditions must all be considered. USA VTON electric explosion-proof ball valves can be configured according to actual operating conditions.

1. Determine the Ball Valve Parameters
First identify nominal pipe size, connection type, pressure rating, operating temperature, and medium characteristics. Different media may require different valve-body, ball, seat, and sealing materials.
For flammable gases, oil vapors, or other specialized media, the composition of the medium, operating pressure, and temperature range should be identified so that valve materials and sealing design can be evaluated.
For corrosive, high-temperature, or particle-containing media, the wetted materials and sealing components should also be checked against the actual conditions.
2. How Should the Explosion-Proof Actuator Be Selected?
Explosion-protection requirements for an electric explosion-proof ball valve mainly concern the electric actuator and its electrical components. Selection should consider the actual installation area and hazardous conditions, together with the applicable type of explosion protection, equipment classification, and conformity requirements.
“Explosion-proof” is not simply a matter of adding an enclosure. The project should consider hazardous-area classification, gas or dust characteristics, temperature classification, and the applicable requirements for electrical equipment.
The actuator must also provide suitable output torque for the ball valve. It should not be selected solely according to DN. Actual valve torque, process pressure, sealing friction, and operating frequency should also be considered.
3. Confirm Control and Environmental Conditions
For integration with an automation system, the power supply, on-off control method, feedback signals, and remote-control requirements should be confirmed.
If the valve is installed in a humid, high-temperature, corrosive, or dusty environment, actuator protection and installation conditions should also be considered. Explosion protection and environmental protection are separate selection factors and should be evaluated independently.
At an industrial pipeline system, the electric explosion-proof ball valve can first be specified according to medium, pipe size, pressure, and temperature. The explosion-proof actuator can then be selected according to the hazardous area and electrical requirements, followed by verification of torque, power supply, and feedback signals.
Selection suggestion: Prepare the medium, pipe size, pressure, temperature, connection type, valve torque, hazardous-area information, explosion-protection requirements, power supply, and control method. USA VTON can then use the complete operating conditions for technical confirmation.
