How should an electric floating ball valve be selected? The main factors are medium, pressure, temperature, nominal size, sealing materials, valve operating torque, and electric actuator configuration. USA VTON electric floating ball valves use a floating-ball design driven by an electric actuator for remote or automated pipeline control.

1. Select Valve and Sealing Materials According to the Medium
First identify the process medium, such as water, gases, oils, or industrial process fluids. Medium temperature, pressure, corrosiveness, and possible particles should also be confirmed.
The sealing performance of a floating ball valve depends on the material combination of the ball, seats, and other wetted or sealing components. For corrosive or special media, material compatibility should be checked according to the actual medium, concentration, and temperature.
2. Determine Valve Size According to Pressure and Pipe Size
Nominal valve size should be selected according to pipeline size, flow requirements, and connection type. The pressure rating should cover the actual operating pressure while considering operating temperature.
A floating ball valve generally uses process pressure to help establish sealing between the ball and the downstream seat. Differential pressure, sealing design, and actual operating conditions should therefore be considered. Frequent operation also requires attention to valve torque and operating frequency.
3. Match the Electric Actuator to the Control Method
For full-open/full-close operation, an on-off actuator may be selected. If valve opening needs to change according to process parameters, a suitable modulating actuator should be considered.
Power supply, control signal, position feedback, operating time, and installation space should also be confirmed. USA VTON can configure the electric floating ball valve according to the actual application and automation requirements.
Application Example
At a certain industrial process pipeline, remote on-off control was required. The technical team evaluated the medium, operating pressure, temperature, and pipe size before selecting the floating ball valve. The electric actuator was then matched according to the actual valve operating torque, followed by verification of direction, limits, and feedback during commissioning.
Selection Advice
Prepare the medium, DN size, pressure, temperature, flow rate, connection type, control mode, and power supply for technical confirmation. Frequent operation, corrosive media, or special environments should also be communicated in advance.
