An electric three-way ball valve is mainly used for pipeline diversion, merging, and flow-path switching. An electric actuator rotates the valve ball to automatically change the connection between different flow paths. Selection should not be based only on pipe size. The three-way configuration, flow-path design, medium, pressure, temperature, and actuator torque must also be considered. USA VTON electric three-way ball valves can be configured according to actual pipeline and control requirements.

1. Confirm the Three-Way Configuration and Flow Direction
Electric three-way ball valves can be used to divide one medium flow into two pipelines, combine two flows into one pipeline, or switch between two different pipeline routes. Because different processes require different flow-path logic, the first step is to identify what each of ports A, B, and C is connected to.
For pipeline switching applications, the required flow paths and the valve-ball positions corresponding to each operating position should also be clearly defined. The process logic should therefore be confirmed before selecting the valve structure.
USA VTON can select the appropriate three-way configuration according to pipeline connections, flow direction, and control requirements.
2. Check Medium, Pressure, and Temperature
The valve body must be suitable for the actual process medium. Water, gases, oils, and corrosive industrial fluids can require different valve-body, ball, seat, and sealing materials.
Normal and maximum working pressure, operating temperature, and flow range should also be provided. For high-temperature, low-temperature, or corrosive applications, material compatibility and sealing design should be carefully verified.
If the three-way ball valve is used for important pipeline switching operations, switching frequency and operating environment should also be considered.
3. How Should the Electric Actuator Be Matched?
A three-way ball valve normally changes flow paths through rotational movement, so actuator output torque should be matched to the actual valve operating torque.
Torque can be affected by valve structure, size, process pressure, sealing friction, temperature, and operating frequency. The actuator should also be configured according to the field power supply and control method, including requirements for open/close feedback or position feedback.
At an industrial pipeline system, an electric three-way ball valve can be used to switch media automatically between two process pipelines. The control system sends commands to change the ball position and select the required flow path.
Selection suggestion: Before specifying an electric three-way ball valve, prepare connection size, medium, pressure, temperature, flow rate, flow-path logic, power supply, and control requirements. USA VTON can then use these parameters to determine the valve structure and actuator configuration.
